Progress Bar helps motivate customers to increase their order value by showing their progress toward certain rewards, such as free shipping, discounts, or free gifts. When customers reach the configured milestones in their cart, the corresponding benefits are automatically applied or become available.

To use this feature, first navigate to the Settings page and enable the Progress Bar. Once enabled, additional configuration options for different milestones will become available.

One of the available options is Enable to use discount prices in progress bar. When this option is enabled, the progress bar will calculate the cart value using discounted product prices if discounts have already been applied to the items in the cart.

You can also enable Enable free shipping milestone. This option allows the progress bar to show customers their progress toward unlocking free shipping. The purpose of this milestone is to inform customers that free shipping becomes available once their order reaches a certain value.

It is important to note that the actual free shipping condition is defined in your Shopify Shipping configuration. The Progress Bar only displays the progress toward that opportunity.

If you want to use a custom value for the progress bar display, you can enable Enable custom limit for free shipping milestone. In this case, the value you set will be used to calculate and display the progress in the progress bar. This allows you to show customers a different threshold in the progress bar than the one configured in Shopify shipping settings.

Another available option is Enable order discount milestone. When customers reach a specified cart value, an automatic discount will be applied to their order.

After enabling this option, you can define the cart amount required to unlock the discount. For example, if the threshold is set to 700, the discount will be applied once the cart total reaches 700. The discount value is configured separately. You can also choose the discount type, either as a percentage or as a fixed amount.

You can also enable Enable free gift milestone. When customers reach the specified cart value, the selected product will be automatically added to the cart as a free gift.

After enabling this option, you need to choose the product that will be given as a gift and set the cart amount required to unlock it.

Within a single Progress Bar, you can add up to five free gifts, each with its own cart value milestone.

Each gift can also be set as secret. In this case, the title and image of the gift will not be shown in the progress bar. This can be used as a surprise element for customers.

When a product is eligible to become a free gift, the calculation of the progress toward unlocking that gift works slightly differently.

The first unit of that product is excluded from the progress calculation for the free gift reward. This means that simply adding one unit of the product will not contribute toward unlocking the gift. Only additional quantities of the same product (i.e., quantities greater than one) will be counted toward the progress.

For example, if a customer adds one unit of a gift-eligible product to the cart, it will not increase the progress toward the free gift. If they add two units, only one of those units will be counted. If they add three units, two will be counted, and so on.

This behavior ensures that the product itself does not immediately qualify the customer for its own free gift and prevents unintended reward triggering.

It’s important to note that this rule applies only to progress toward free gift rewards. The same product will still be fully counted for other types of promotions, such as discounts or free shipping thresholds.
